06/04/08- Hey Flatmates! Since TFTF#7 took so damn long to come out, we decided to bring you a brand new TFTF story, for free! It's a TFTF 24-Hour comic, although it ended up taking about 36 hours to do thanks to a rock n roll game of Cranium. But it takes place within 24 Hours so it still kinda counts. It's only viewable on Facebook at the moment but we'll hopefully have printed copies at the upcoming Bristol Convention (Where we'll be exhibiting alongside our Camden Comics Stall pals on the London Underground Comics table!)
Also a big thanks to everyone who voted for us in the first round of The Eagle Awards, we've been shortlisted again! Please exercise your right to vote just one more time so we can win it! It's the Favorite British Black and White Comicbook catagory. All the best folks!
11/03/08- As usual, Modern Monstrosity will be at the UK Web n Mini Comix Thing on March 22 where we'll be premeiring the second TFTF Collected Edition and TFTF#7!
17/02/08- Vote Tales From The Flat for this year's Eagle Award nominations under the "Favorite Black and White Comicbook- British" catagory! You know it's right!
12/02/08- Ah hello flatmates! Has been a while. TFTF #7 is on the horizon and with any luck we'll have it for the Web n Mini Comix Thing in March.
At some point over the next couple of months we're going to give the site a bit of a revamp we reckon, it's well past due.
New TFTF reviews up here and here!
And remember that you can now buy TFTF from the Camden Comics Stall every Saturday!
18/12/07- A very merry Christmas to all our flatmates, hope you all get what you deserve! We want to run a letters column in an upcoming issue of TFTF, so if you're a reader, let us know what you think of the series so far by dropping us an email at: modernmonstrosity@hotmail.com.
Not only will you get the pleasure of seeing your name in print within the UK's finest indie adventure comic, but we'll send you some TFTF goodies as well.

18/6/07- Although TFTF#6 still has a week or so til release, we thought we'd give you a little preview of the work-in-progress TFTF#7 cover. Check it- Updated 24/6
28/5/07- Hello! Been a bit quiet lately. Managed NOT to release Issue6 for either of the Cons we did recently. Sorry about that. It will be on sale at the Forbidden Planet website in the next few weeks.
Thanks to everybody who made the second day of this weekend's London Expo so much more enjoyable than the first. Definatly one of our favourite convention experiences. We'll have the photo-report up for that along with one from the Bristol Convention very soon!
23/4/07- Happy St George's Day! Finally got our contribution up. Just hit the above banner for a look-see. (And let us know whatcho think on our poor, needy, neglected messageboard. Please.)
This summer, Modern Monstrosity will be launching its first foray into the wonderful world of webcomics with "Curtis & Terrorist", a surrealist adventure from the messy mind of Oliver Lambden. It's gonna make its home at Comicspace, but for now, check out some previews over at their Myspace. Let's be friends! (Check out Mike Rouse-Deane's Curtis & Terrorist review here)
10/04/07- Tales From The Flat Issue One and our Birmingham Convention report are now viewable over on our comicspace page! Check 'em!
03/04/07- Okay so it's nearly four months since the Birmingham International Comic Con, but the photo comic report is finaly done. This was a bit of a dissapointing event, and we've had alot of side projects going on as you know, so I have been neglecting the photo comic up until now. This will also be the 1st comic that will also be published on our "comic space" so you might prefer to go check it out there, otherwise click here!
29/03/07- Well, the space time continuum must've collapsed or something cos we've been nominated for an Eagle Award!
A big cheers to everyone who voted for us initially, now you need to go back and vote again for us to actually win!
Congratulations also to our pals Lorenzo & Rob Ethrington and Vented Spleen for getting their books, Malcom Magic and How To Date A Girl In Ten Days nominated.
:)
21/03/07- Word up! The MM night at inigo last night was a great success! And although there were alot of issues with the sound, thankfully they were after I played. Thanks to all those who came down and everyone who performed and had to put up with the swag sound system!
There was also the Web and Mini Comix Thing last saturday which went alright despite forgeting the last few issue 2's. Sales were okay, but to be honest there were probably an equal number of people attending as there were exhibiting, so it was also a good chance to rub shoulders with the other folks that are making comics in the UK. Just wished we'd sold some full sets. Still there's always Bristol Expo and London MCM in May, where we will be premiering the long awaited issue 6!
Just about to finish the also long awaited Birmingham photo comic and get that up, then I can start on the one for the Web and Mini Comix Thing, so keep an eye out for those and if you picked up one of our books at the show, and are now checking out the site, let us know what you thought of it. Constructive critisism is alright but we prefer straight up verbal abuse.
13/03/07- Okay so we never update the site as we're far too busy not working on our comic, but we just thought we'd let people know that we'll be at The Web and Mini Comix Thing in Mile End, London this Saturday. We'll have all the issues of TFTF, the acclaimed "MM Presents" Anthology, posters, mini-comix, badges and a Thing- exclusive podcast CD!
Also, pick up the convention anthology, which contains a 3 page full colour story from us, as well as loads of stuff from the various other artists that you'll be able to find exhibiting at the convention as well.
Issue 6 has been delayed further still due to the amount of side projects that we've been working on. First there was the piece for the Thing Anthology which is done and dusted. Then there's the piece for Volume Magazine which our colourist Jake Harold should be finishing imminently.
Right now Oliver is wrapping up the artwork for the Verbs With a Vengence CD cover so we can get that into post production, and I'm finishing off scripts for 6 strips that will be featuring in the newsletters going out at this years snowbombing festival in Austria. Unfortunately we don't actually get to go, but it's all exposure I guess. Anyway as soon as Oliver's got all his bits out of the way he'll be back on with Issue 6, hopefully in time for the April Inigo night.
22/01/07- The Eagle Awards nominations are up for 2007. Vote for Tales From The Flat under the "Favorite Black and White Comic Book: British" catagory!
12/01/07- Just in time for our next night, we've set up a Modern Monstrosity Monthly page! We'll be updating it with photos, flyers, videos and whatnot as time goes on.
31/12/06- Hello everyone! (and when we say "everyone" we mean the small collection of people who frequent this site) Hope you all had a boombastic Christmas. We've had a great year and 2007 is gonna be HUGE!
We'll have our photo-comic report from the Birmingham Convention up in the next couple of weeks, TFTF6 should be out for Febuary/March, we've got a two page story in the upcoming Volume Magazine, a new anthology on the horizon, more launch parties, more conventions and lots of other little side-projects all lined up for the coming year.
And remember to come n see us at March's Web n Mini Comix Thing. Tis a great convention.
29/11/06- For anyone who may be remotely interested, we've just done a Modern Monstrosity "Podcast".
It features Laurence and Oliver (as well as the real life James of TFTF#5 fame) rambling about the comic and related subjects to a soundtrack of beats, hiphop, indie and breaks.
It's located here on James' Multiply site which is also chock-full of photos from our Modern Monstrosity Monthly nights at Inigo.
22/11/06- We've finally put up our photo comic report from our visit to the LondonExpo held at the Excel Center on October 28th & 29th. Anyone not into excessive swearing or deviant sexual content should not advance further. Click here yo.
And when you've read it, do let us know what you think, either here on our humble little message board or over on our myspace.
Next on the circut is the Birmingham Convention in December. If you're gona be there, come say hi. S'gonna be wicked. Bo.
26/10/06- Click here to check out October's issue5 launch party photo comic. Just a slap dash thing. Look out for our report from the LondonExpo in the coming weeks, that's gonna be massive!
25/10/06- Okay so there hasn't been much going on with the website recently, but that should change soon! I done a little re-jig just now but I'm planning on a complete over haul within the next few days.
Issue5 is out now! And we had the launch party in Inigo bar clapham recently, which while not as much of an unbelievable success as the last one, was still an enjoyable way to celebrate the birth of or latest comic, and the venue gave us a load of free beer so we were happy!
Anyway all you people who been keeping up with our adventures need to get your hands on a copy of the new issue as it really is the greates thing we have done to date! As ever the people at forbidden planet are stocking the book on their website, and we will be at the london expo next weekend, as well as the birmingham comic con in December. If you're at either be sure to drop by and say hi!
Keep checking the site for more updates and if your into that myspace malarky, befrend us so you can send us abuse and get invites to our launch parties!
18/08/06- The ModernMonstrosity Presents launch party was a resounding success, many cheers' to everyone who turned up and brought a copy of the anthology and shame on all those who didn't. We're expecting to have the TFTF#5 launch party at the same venue in mid October sometime.
And talking of October, we'll be at the London Comics Expo on October 28 & 29 with Tales From The Flat#5. Be there!
19/05/06- Finally got the Bristol comic report finished and up on the site. This took alot of hard work and I couldn't have done it without the help of all the people who i've been sitting around with whilst doing it.
Happy birthday to my boy Sean who's seeing in his 22nd year doing a nightshift at London Bridge station. I feel your pain. Only I don't really as since i got fired from Prime Time I only work 3 hours a day. Anyway it's late and I'm rambling.
Please send me feedback on the photo comic as it was as much fun as it was frustrating. Also check out our Edd Egg guest strip from 18/05/06! More cool stuff coming soon.
